Title: Utility Safety Task Group
Description: The task group, intended to address utility pole safety, is composed of representatives from the FHWA, state, DOTs, academia, utility companies, and manufacturers of safety hardware. The task group will examine the magnitude of the utility pole problem; obtain information about existing program, technologies, and strategies; prepare a state-of-the-art report in 2000 with recommendations for improvement; and initiate outreach activities to encourage state DOTs and utilities to implement the recommendations. This work is being done as an activity of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Utilities Committee (A2A07).
