Goal 13 - Increasing Safety Enhancements in Vehicles
Selected features in many of today’s vehicles are not providing optimum protection for drivers and passengers. The standard for many of these features can be upgraded to provide an increased level of safety. These improved safety features must be effective, cost-efficient upgrades acceptable to the general public.
- Strategy 13A: Reduce the number of crashes and injuries resulting from misunderstanding and misuse of anti-lock brake systems (ABS)
- Strategy 13B: Reduce carbon monoxide poisoning through education and technology
- Strategy 13C: Include motorcycle needs in ITS crash avoidance and collision warning research and implementation
- Strategy 13D: Improve the compatibility between roadside and vehicle designs
